The Red Gala
April 20 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
This new flagship event will take place on April 20, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Light House Arts Centre. It will be a semi-formal cocktail social that will recognize ACNS’s lasting legacy, and give a glimpse into what our future holds… complete with a new name and expanded mission! Wear something red, get dressed up and join us.
Legendary Halifax drag performers Rouge Fatale & Deva Station are confirmed as co-hosts for the event. Interspersed throughout The Red Gala evening will be a series of surprise queer performers of various types to join Rouge and Deva for mini-performance sets. The ‘surprise’ factor will keep people on their toes, as they’ll never know what will come next! It might be a stand-up comedian doing a brief set or a singer performing a Broadway classic. And, of course, there’ll be drag. The evening will also feature a silent auction, light catered appetizers, a cash bar and a whole lot more!
Changes Coming at ACNS…
ACNS has been busy! We are moving forward with plans to expand our mandate and change our name, and The Red Gala will be our ‘coming out’ party. This night will pay homage to the things we’ve accomplished over our three-decade-plus history, and also serve as a means to address where we’re going next with style.
ACNS will continue to provide the same HIV prevention and HIV+ support services we always have, and provide service-provider training on how to best work with those impacted by HIV. Moving forward we will also be expanding our program range to include broader sexual and mental health programs for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities across Nova Scotia, and even more service provider training options.
The Red Gala will celebrate everything we’ve accomplished and introduce you to a new direction for us. You don’t want to miss it!
