Joke Signals – All Indigenous Comedy Show

June 3 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Joke Signals is an all Indigenous stand-up comedy show featuring some of Canada’s best Indigenous stand-up comedians. Join us at Halifax’s Bus Stop Theatre on June 3rd to enjoy the comedic stylings of Chad Anderson, Dakota Ray Hebert, and Clifton Cremo.
Chad Anderson is a stand up comedian currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He performs throughout North America and has appeared at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, JFL Toronto, Odd Block Comedy Festival, Arctic Air Comedy Festival and JFL Northwest as part of CBC’s New Wave of Standup.
Chad’s comedy reflects his own personal experiences including fatherhood and tragedy as well as subjects ranging from social media to racism. He’s been featured multiple times on CBC’s The Debaters and was a cast member in Mary Walsh’s Canada It’s Complicated. His debut album, Live at Wee Johnny’s was released in 2020 and can regularly be heard on SiriusXM.
Dakota Ray Hebert is an accomplished Dene comedian, actor, and writer from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Some of her credits include the Arctic Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs, and CBC’s Comedy Night with Rick Mercer.
As an actor, Dakota has been featured in productions like CTV’s Shelved, Run Woman Run, Crazy Like a Lynx, and Marvel’s Echo on Disney+.
Her debut album “I’ll Give You An Indian Act” was released in October 2022, and is available on all streaming platforms, as well as iTunes and Bandcamp.
Clifton Cremo is a Mi’kmaw stand-up comedian from Eskasoni First Nation. Since beginning his career in comedy, Clifton has been entertaining audiences with his deft brand of storytelling and wry absurdism. Clifton’s perspective on his Mi’kmaw upbringing and his unique outlook on First Nations issues brought him national attention by showing that no matter the divisiveness of an issue, humor can always be a common ground.
Clifton was part of Rise Together with host Ron James, a fundraiser that raised over $100,000 for the Cape Breton Red Cross. Clifton has also been featured regularly at the Halifax Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs, and CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters. He has also recorded an album with Just For Laughs Originals that can regularly be heard on SiriusXM.
