Adria Jackson Harp

March 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$20.00

Come and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend with an acoustic candlelit concert with Celtic singer/folk harper, Adria Jackson and special guest violinist, Jacques Mindreau (aka Electro Jacques Therapy).

Adria’s pure lyric soprano voice paired with her Celtic harp are reminiscent of such artists as Loreena McKennitt and early Joni Mitchell. She has performed in recitals across Canada and the UK before crossing over to traditional folk with her harp. She recently performed at the Ancient River Festival, Side Door by the Sea (Side Door Access) and was featured artist at the Helen Creighton Folk Club. Her album Troubadour reached #5 on the National Earshot Folk/Blues/Roots Charts this past summer.

Jacques’s raw and haunting violin tone will send chills down your spine. A multifaceted musician, he composes music for film, dance and theatre. He has also performed and toured with countless musicians all over Canada and the world including his own group Krasnogorsk plus Petunia, Ben Caplan and Coco Love Alcorn, to name a few.

The evening will be filled with beautiful and enchanting arrangements of traditional Irish and Scottish songs plus timeless originals, Canadiana and some folk inspired classical songs from her album Troubadour. You can look forward to hearing favourite traditional Irish songs including O Danny Boy, She Moves Through The Fair and Wild Mountain Thyme. This new spellbinding collaboration with singer/harp and violin can’t be missed!

After living throughout Canada and the UK, Adria now lives with her family in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she is soaking up the East Coast Gaelic culture and fresh sea air.  This past summer, while touring in Nova Scotia, Troubadour climbed nationally to #5 on the Earshot folk/roots/blues charts.  In July, Adria was the most requested artist on Scotlander Radio (Inverness, Scotland).  She was a featured artist at the Ancient River Festival, the prestigious Helen Creighton Folk Club and Side Door by the Sea (Side Door Access).  You could also find her singing with her harp in historic sites, gardens and seaside boardwalks.

Before emerging as a traditional folk singer/harper, Adria was an experienced classical performer and educator.  She performed in recitals across Canada, England & Wales.  Highlights of Adria’s time performing in the UK include rehearsing at Handel’s historic house in London with Dei Gratia, an early music group, singing with the Philharmonic Cambridge Choir at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, and one of the children’s choir to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.  She ran singing workshops in primary schools in London for Sing Up, plus ran a bustling private vocal studio.  All of these past music experiences shape Adria’s current live performances.

Adria recently recorded Troubadour, a full-length album of traditional folk and classical songs, with the generous contribution of Strathcona County, Albert, Canada.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Music(voice) from Brock University
