HIEROPHUNK
DJ HieroPhunk (Nic Tufts), is an esteemed electronic music producer and performer from Halifax. Hierophunk creates deep, transformative soundscapes that lead dancers on a powerful journey. Nic is an Aquarius Sun / Scorpio Moon which lends to a blend of futuristic house music energy with the intense emotional depth of the underworld.
Starting her DJ journey at 13, she mastered vinyl juggling and scratching by watching VHS tapes in her bedroom. Her passion and skill earned her a rich history in the club scene, where she became known for dynamic, genre-defying sets.
As the founder of Halifax Ecstatic Dance, DJ Hierophunk has built a vibrant community focused on the healing power of movement and music.

COME AS YOU ARE. DANCE AS YOU PLEASE.
DANCE HOW YOU WANT. NO JUDGEMENT.
HOW IT WORKS
We open into a wide circle and do some light stretching which then transitions into a freeform dance journey facilitated by our guest DJ’s. At the end of the set we close with some sound healing or group exercise to ground and complete the experience.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DANCE FLOOR?
People of all walks of life, shapes and sizes are welcome to dance however they please. We ask that all honour the shared space and one another: This means being mindful of your own movements and also being aware of the people around you. Refrain from touching or invading others’ personal space without their permission. Consent must be given
No talking: To allow for a fully immersive and meditative experience, ecstatic dance events typically have a no-talking policy on the dance floor. You’re welcome to chat and socialize in other areas of the venue, but keep the dance floor as a sacred space for movement and expression.
No shoes: Many ecstatic dance events ask that you dance barefoot or wear non-slip socks to create a more grounded and natural experience.
No drugs or alcohol: Ecstatic dance is meant to be a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, allowing you to connect with your body and mind in a more natural way.
Move in your own way: There’s no right or wrong way to move in ecstatic dance, so feel free to express yourself however you feel. Dance with abandon and let go of any self-consciousness or judgment.
Stay present/ No phone on the dance floor: Try to stay focused on the present moment and the music, rather than getting lost in your thoughts or worries. Allow the music to guide your movements and emotions.
