Explore a rich tapestry of music spanning centuries and continents with classical guitarist JIJI and violinist Danbi Um. Journey to Baroque Italy with the raw emotive power of Arcangelo Corelli’s Sonata in D minor “La Folia.” Explore 19th-century America and immerse yourself in the elegant charm of three Amy Beach compositions – “La Captive,” “Berceuse,” and “Mazurka.” Savor the romantic strains of Francisco Tárrega’s iconic “Recuerdos de la Alhambra” and Isaac Albeníz’s “Asturias (Leyenda),” and feel the colourful spirit of Spain as you enjoy Manuel de Falla’s “Suite Populaire Espagnole,” a vibrant fusion of folkloric melodies and compelling rhythms. Relish the dramatic flair of Mauro Giuliani’s “Grand Overture,” the captivating virtuosity of Niccolò Paganini’s “Caprice No. 24” and the soulful “Cantabile,” and Ástor Piazzolla’s “Histoire du Tango,” a fascinating exploration of the Tango’s evolution. Praised by The Washington Post for her “mesmerizing” and “stirring” performances, South Korean guitarist JIJI is an adventurous musician known for her virtuosity and command of diverse repertoire. Also a native of South Korea, Menuhin International Violin Competition medalist Danbi Um captivates audiences with her luscious sound and interpretive sensitivity.
