Violinist Artem Diaz Kolesov Fominyx and Pianist Evelyn Lee

January 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Russian violinist Artem Diaz Kolesov Fominyx and South Korean-American pianist Evelyn Lee perform Johannes Brahms’ three violin sonatas

The remarkable violinist, Artem Diaz Kolesov Fominyx, recently named the inaugural Grauman Fellow, returns to our stage to navigate Johannes Brahms’ triptych of exquisite violin sonatas alongside pianist Evelyn Lee. Join us as this brilliant duo performs the poignant Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major “Regensonate,” a work that conjures powerful emotions and establishes a rich atmosphere that draws listeners into its realm. Experience the Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major “Thun,” celebrated for its melody-driven themes and passages, and the Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor, which abounds in emotional intensity and dramatic expressiveness. Artem Diaz Kolesov Fominyx, a native of Russia, has won several international competitions in Europe and North America, and his performance with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic at age 15 led to a full scholarship to study with violinist Philippe Djokic at Dalhousie University’s Fountain School of Performing Arts. Evelyn Lee, the prize-winning Korean-American pianist, is a collaborative artist and music educator who has performed globally. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California. Don’t miss this extraordinary all-Brahms evening – the blend of intricate melodies, rhythmic complexities, and the compelling narrative that Brahms interweaves through each sonata promises an unforgettable concert experience.
