Dave Sampson & Daniel James McFadyen – Live at the Shore Club

June 19 @ 9:30 pm - June 20 @ 1:00 am
The new wave of Nova Scotian musical story tellers hit the stage to officially welcome the summer. Meet at the Shore Club on the Solstice!

Dave Sampson writes with a steady hand and an unmistakable voice. Raised on Cape Breton Island, the songwriter has built a body of work rooted in folk tradition, yet restless enough to drift into indie rock, country, and late-night confessionals. His songs carry the grit of coastal bars and the experience of a songwriter who understands when to leave space.

Over the years, Sampson has earned multiple awards and industry recognition for his songwriting, becoming a quiet constant in Canada’s East Coast music scene. He’s spent significant time in Nashville honing his craft, writing for and collaborating with a new wave of country artists, including Owen Riegling, High Valley, SACHA, and Tyler Joe Miller. Those rooms sharpened his instincts without sanding down his edge.

Dave’s resume carries an unexpected career highlight: a Gold Record earned through his work with Snoop Dogg and Classified. A testament to his versatility and ability to cross genres without losing authenticity.

A seasoned performer, Sampson has toured extensively across Canada, sharing stages with kindred artists and winning over audiences one song at a time. His live shows feel less like performances and more like unguarded, intimate, and story-grounded conversations. Performing solo or backed by his fiery band, he’s a crowd favourite who lights up the stage.

In an era obsessed with noise, Dave Sampson chooses resonance, writing songs that linger long after the needle lifts.

Daniel James McFadyen is an award-winning indie-folk artist whose expressive lyricism, charismatic stage presence, and road-worn storytelling have made him one of Canada’s most compelling contemporary voices. His 2025 sophomore album, Back To The Country (LHM Records), marks a defining moment in his artistic evolution—an intimate, organic, and boldly confident full-length that leans into the Americana/Canadiana textures he has grown increasingly known for.

Recorded live off the floor in a cabin on British Columbia’s Shuswap Lake with producer Cole Friesen, the album captures an unpolished, lived-in warmth. Across its 11 tracks, McFadyen weaves themes of disillusionment, hope, daydreaming, heartbreak, humour, and the search for home. From the barn-burning stomp of “Spinnaker (I’m Leavin’),” to the wistful ache of “Hurt My Heart,” to the wry charm of “Landmine,” Back To The Country showcases a songwriter stepping fully into his voice.

McFadyen’s rise has been powered equally by his dynamic, deeply interactive live shows. His cross-Canada tours have sold out major venues—including Toronto’s Great Hall, Halifax’s Marquee Ballroom, and Ottawa’s Overflow Brewing—cultivating a devoted and ever-growing fanbase. In 2024, he earned three Music Nova Scotia Awards, the most of any artist that year, cementing his status as a breakout performer.

Now in 2026, Daniel James McFadyen continues to carve out his place within the modern folk landscape—bridging heartfelt storytelling with the communal spirit of classic Canadian songwriting. With Back To The Country defining a new era in his sound, McFadyen stands firmly at the forefront of a new generation of Canadian troubadours.
