FriendSHIPS! March Break at the MMA

Let’s shell-abrate together as the best ships are FriendSHIPS! Here’s our schedule of fun things to “sea and do” with your besties!
We’re in our FriendSHIP! era where you can craft your own colourful friendship bracelets for you and your friends, in our beautiful Small Craft Gallery!
Dress up in fun costumes and transform into a pirate or ocean creature! Enjoy this activity in the William Robertson & Son Chandlery, a heritage building that provided accessories and supplies to the fishing and shipping industries over 150 years ago!
From Ocean’s Week Canada, visitors can step into a giant ocean floor map of Canada to explore from coast-to coast- to coast! In the Small Craft Gallery, experience a downloadable 3D experience, taking you across our oceans to experience Canada’s waterways!
Check out barrel demos in the Days of Sail gallery, Warehouse Theatre films, museum tours and discovery learning stations throughout our exhibits!
Thursday, March 19: We welcome friends COVE from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm! COVE is Canada’s leading marine technology hub, based right here at the North Atlantic gateway! Through hands-on testing, innovation, and real-world problem solving, COVE supports new ideas in ocean, energy, and climate solutions—and helps inspire the next generation of technology leaders.
Experience OffshoreWind4Kids (OW4Ks), designed especially for children ages 6–12. This interactive, family-friendly program introduces kids to: renewable energy in Nova Scotia, how offshore wind turbines work, and exciting future careers in the blue and green economy. Families will also take part in fun, hands-on activities—working together to build and test model wind turbines.
