Sensory-Accessible Concerts: Violist Susan Sayle & Clarinetist Eileen Walsh

May 5 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This program features a thoughtfully curated selection of works that spans repertoire from Baroque to Romantic to contemporary periods.

This engaging afternoon concert, hosted in partnership with the Halifax Public Libraries, promises an accessible and inviting atmosphere for all, free of charge. The program features a thoughtfully curated selection of works that spans repertoire from Baroque to Romantic to contemporary periods, performed by Symphony Nova Scotia musicians Susan Sayle on viola and Eileen Walsh on clarinet, with our host Jennifer King on piano. Included are two movements from JS. Bach’s introspective and tranquil “Sonata for Viola da Gamba in G major,” the first piece from Robert Schumann’s reflective “Märchenbilder,” and Nova Scotian composer Sandy Moore’s work for solo viola “Les ombres de la Lune.” The lineup also includes the charming Minuetto from W.A. Mozart’s “Trio in E flat ‘Kegelstatt'” and Max Bruch’s serenely beautiful “Nachtgesang” from “8 Pieces for Clarinet, Viola, and Piano.” Designed to be sensory-friendly and inclusive, this performance aims to connect with audiences through the universal language of music, offering moments of beauty and contemplation.
