Dave Merheje: Comedy Trailblazer

Overselling it? You’ll need to be the judge. What we can tell you is that Dave Merheje is considered to be one of the most original stand-up acts on the comedy scene today. With a career marked by innovation and daring humour, Dave’s multiple award-winning act has garnered a devoted following across North America. His “no fear” approach on stage and a comedy style best described as aggressive, in-your-face funny (the best form of aggressive in-your-face behaviour) have set him apart as a true comedy trailblazer.

Awards and Accolades

Dave’s comedy prowess has earned him numerous accolades. He won the Just For Laugh’s 2011 Homegrown Comic Competition and NOW Magazine’s 2011 Best of Toronto Award for Best Male Stand-up. In 2012, he was part of the NBC Standup for Diversity tour and was a Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Stand-up. In 2013, he received another Canadian Comedy Award nomination, this time for best taped live performance, and was a finalist at the Seattle Comedy Competition.

International Presence

Dave’s comedic talents have transcended borders. He has made multiple appearances at prestigious comedy festivals, including the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, JFL42 in Toronto, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, and even the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia.

Acclaimed Comedy Specials

Dave Merheje’s comedy specials have been met with critical acclaim. In 2018, he released his comedy special “Good Friend Bad Grammar,” which is available on iTunes and Amazon Prime. This special was a true hit and even earned him the 2019 Juno Award for Comedy Album of the Year. His most recent comedy special, “Beautifully Manic,” can be seen on Netflix as part of Comedians of the World, showcasing his global appeal.

Meet the Comedy Lineup:

The show will be starting off fast and furious (but in a cool way, not like a scary or “all about family” way) with three of the folks currently shaping comedy in HRM.

Nick Martinello (Host): Get ready for a night of seamless comedy transitions (way more impressive and difficult than it sounds) and expert hosting by the charismatic Nick Martinello. Nick is a seasoned comedian known for his wit and charm, and he’ll keep the laughter flowing throughout the evening.

Amanda Rose: Amanda Rose is a rising star in the comedy scene, known for her sharp wit, relatable humour and “bubbly” delivery that will have you primed to laugh even before the punchline.

Jordan Foisy: Jordan Foisy has been a comedy powerhouse for several years, carving out a name for himself as a writer and staple of the standup comedy scene.

Time is running out, and ticket sales have been moving at a slower pace than expected. Don’t miss out on this fantastic night of comedy – here’s why you should act fast:

Limited Seating: The Sanctuary Arts Centre offers an intimate setting for comedy shows, which also means seating is limited. Waiting until the last minute might leave you without a seat (and standing at the back isn’t nearly as funny)!

Unforgettable Night Out: Need a break from the daily grind? This comedy show promises to be a night of non-stop laughter, perfect for a memorable evening with friends or a fun date night.

Support Local Entertainment: By attending this show, you’re not only treating yourself to a fantastic evening but also supporting the local comedy scene and the Sanctuary Arts Centre.

Don’t let this comedy extravaganza slip through your fingers. Act fast, invite your friends, and get ready to laugh until your sides hurt. The city is still talking about the last time Top Hat Comedy took over the Arts Centre; Dave Merheje, Amanda Rose, Jordan Foisy, and Nick Martinello are ready to bring the house down.

Get your tickets today, and we’ll see you there for an unforgettable night of comedy!
