Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

For art lovers, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has an impressive collection of over 17,000 works of art, including pieces by renowned Canadian artists. Kids can participate in art workshops and hands-on activities. One of the favourite spots is the opportunity to explore the actual cottage that acclaimed folk artist Maude Lewis lived in (and decorated with her work).
Museum of Natural History

Canadian Museum of Immigration (Pier 21)

Georges Island
A trip to Georges Island offers an opportunity to explore a real-life island fortress. Your kids will be able to get up close and personal with the walls, tunnels and turrets, as well as a panoramic view of the Halifax harbour. An excellent opportunity to teach your kids about military and city history. Visiting involves a quick boat trip, but kids will also find this a lot of fun.
The Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia

A museum that celebrates and preserves the history and culture of African Nova Scotians. Kids can learn about the contributions of Black Nova Scotians to the province’s history, explore exhibits on art and music, and participate in interactive workshops.
The Shearwater Aviation Museum

A must-visit for kids who love planes and aviation. Located on the Shearwater military base, the museum has exhibits on the history of aviation in Canada, including a collection of vintage aircraft and military memorabilia.
